Historical Lecture

at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center
The lecture will be “Light Circus”. Will Durham will be doing a slide presentation illustrating vintage Nevada neon signs that he has rescued and collected over the years. He has worked hard and sacrificed a great deal of his time and storage space to keep the neon lights shining. The lecture is upstairs. Admission is $3.00/ free to members.
Chautauqua in the Park

Young Chautauqua has begun. This year we have Teddy Roosevelt, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Helen of Troy and Queen Elizabeth. All our historical persons will perform in the park in Genoa. Come out and support them. The venue is free to the public. We re supported in part by a grant from A.V.I.D.
Pony Express Re-ride

Pony Express re-riders will be traveling through Genoa on their way to Carson City, departing from Woodfords the morning of June 14th at approximately 9 a.m. with anticipated arrival in Carson City at 1:30 p.m.. In order to honor this event the Douglas County Historical Society will have the Courthouse Museum in Genoa open and will be showing a short visual presentation covering the history of the Pony Express. The presentation will be upstairs in the courtroom while downstairs is an interesting Pony Express exhibit with artifacts from the time All those coming to see the riders are encouraged to visit. There will be no admission for this event.

Barn Tour

Tickets on sale now. $25.00, members pay $20.00
Spend a day going back in time in beautiful Carson Valley. Tickets are a bargain and include tours of six historic barns. Also included in the price is free admission to the Courthouse Museum Genoa and the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center at any time during that day. With your ticket you will receive a two for one discount to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. A free Ice Cream Social and timber framing demonstration will be offered at the park following the Barn Tour at 1 PM. As a special treat this year, a local ornithologist will give a short talk about barn owls at
one of the sites. Tickets are limited so order early. Call 775-782-2555 for more information.
